Walter “Wally” Stanghill has been building custom homes in Big Sky since 1990—over 50 of them, each one built with the kind of care you only get from a builder who’s been in the mountains his whole life.
A 5th-generation Montanan from Helena and a former Helena Hot Shots wildland firefighter, Wally brings true leadership, grit, and deep local knowledge to every build. After Montana State University, he sharpened his craft working with top builders in Bozeman and Big Sky—then stepped out on his own and never looked back.
Today, he builds alongside his son, Barrett—who studied construction management, and once a Team USA wrestler with Olympic dreams. When Covid rerouted that path, Barrett came home to Montana and joined Wally in the family trade.
